Our Approach to Litigation

We think like judges.
That is what makes us different.

Pantazis & Associates was founded by a former member of the Hellenic judiciary. That origin shapes how we approach every dispute: with the analytical discipline of a decision-maker, not just the advocacy instinct of a litigator. The litigation lawyers in Athens here treat proceedings as one option among several, chosen when it is genuinely the best route.

That record includes advocacy in precedent-setting litigation and involvement in a number of reported decisions in Greece — matters where the judgment went on to be cited rather than simply filed.

We assess each matter the way a court will — identifying the legal issues that will actually drive the outcome, distinguishing the arguments that will persuade from those that will not, and advising our clients on what the realistic range of results looks like before they commit to a course of action. Bring us the dispute early — the options are widest before proceedings start.

"We do not just advise on the law — we advise on what a court will actually do with it. That requires understanding both the law and the judge reading it."

Our dual qualification in England & Wales and Greece means we advise directly on the English-law aspects of a cross-border dispute — including where jurisdiction, governing law and parallel proceedings are all in issue at once — while our court appearances are before the Greek courts and international arbitral tribunals, and any English proceedings are conducted by instructed English solicitors or counsel.

Pantazis & Associates is recommended by a number of foreign embassies operating in Greece, including the UK, US and Australian embassies. The firm's lawyers are frequently invited to speak at international legal conferences and symposia, and it regularly provides opinions, analysis and commentary to international institutions such as the World Justice Project and the World Bank. The firm has acted in matters that other lawyers read about in textbooks and legal journals — the kind of institutional recognition that a marketing budget cannot buy.

Judicial origin
Founded by a former judge
Our analytical rigour comes directly from our judicial roots. We assess cases the way courts do — distinguishing the legal issues that matter from those that do not.
Dual qualification
England & Wales + Greece
We advise on English-law and Greek-law questions in-house, while representing clients before the Greek courts and international arbitral tribunals. Cross-border disputes, parallel proceedings and jurisdiction arguments are our daily practice.
Arbitration
ICC · LCIA · UNCITRAL
Full conduct of international arbitral proceedings. Seat selection, tribunal strategy, document production, witness evidence and final hearing representation.
Enforcement
Foreign judgments & arbitral awards

How We Handle Disputes

From instruction to
resolution.

STEP 01
Case Assessment
We assess the merits, identify the key legal issues, evaluate the realistic range of outcomes and advise on the most effective strategy — before any formal step is taken.
STEP 02
Pre-Action Strategy
Demand letters, negotiation, mediation where appropriate, and jurisdictional analysis. Many disputes resolve before litigation begins — we maximise that chance without weakening the legal position.
STEP 03
Proceedings
Conduct of court proceedings or arbitration from filing through to judgment or award. Document production, witness evidence, expert coordination and oral argument.
STEP 04
Enforcement & Recovery
Obtaining and enforcing judgments and awards in Greece and abroad. Asset tracing, freezing orders and coordinated enforcement across jurisdictions where needed.
